Eligibility for Admission


1.1 Age Restriction for all candidates:

  • For Engineering / Technology Courses other than Marine Engineering:
    Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age as on 31.12.2014. There is no upper age limit.
  • Marine Engineering course:
    Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2014 and must not be above 25 (twenty five) years of age as on 31.07.2014; as per guidelines of appropriate authority.

1.2 Academic Requirements for all candidates:

  • 1.2a: For Engineering/Technology courses (other than Marine Engineering and colleges other than Jadavpur University)
    Candidates must pass Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination from recognized counsil or board with:
    1. Individual pass marks in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/a Technical Vocational Subject (Engineering Drawing / Computer Science)
    2. Minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.
  • 1.2b: In Jadavpur University-
    Candidates must pass Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination from recognized counsil or board with:
    1. Individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
    2. Minimum of 60% marks in the above subjects taken together (55% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.
  • 1.2c: For Pharmacy course (for colleges other than Jadavpur University):
    Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board with :
    1. Individual pass marks in Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / a Technical Vocational Subject (Engineering Drawing / Computer Science)
    2.Minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary (10+2).
  • 1.2d: For Pharmacy course in Jadavpur University:
    Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board with :
    1. Individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects
    2. Minimum of 60% marks in the above subjects taken together (55% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary (10+2).
  • 1.2e: For Marine Engineering Courses:
    Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board with :
    1. 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together with individual pass marks in the said subjects.
    2. Minimum of 50% marks in English as subject in either in '10' or in '10+2' standard.
  • 1.2f: For Architecture Course:
    A candidate, besides satisfying the eligibility criteria as stated in Para 1.2(a) above, must have aggregate above 50% in 10+2 exam and also qualify in the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi and necessary document in this regard is to be produced at the time of Counselling.
